Note: Shipping time from another library and/or from MSL to your location could impact the loan time. Items are checked out to your account before they are mailed.

Who can request items shipped (mailed) to their personal address?

  • Only faculty/staff/students/residents at a location that is not directly served by a Medical Sciences Library or at a location that does not have a Texas A&M University address may get books shipped to their personal address.
  • Faculty/staff/students/residents at the following locations, can get books shipped directly to these locations for pickup, but not to a personal address.
    • Agrilife Extension
    • AgriLife Research
    • Institute of Biosciences & Technology (Houston)
    • College of Dentistry (Dallas)
    • HSC Bryan Campus
    • HSC College of Pharmacy (Kingsville)
    • HSC Round Rock Campus
    • HSC Temple Campus
  • Faculty on the College Station campus can use the option for office delivery in MSL's Get It For Me.

What MSL will send?

  • Any item available for checkout at the Medical Sciences Library except electronic equipment
    (can be found searching the MSL Catalog).
  • Any item available for checkout at the other Texas A&M Libraries on the College Station Campus
    except electronic equipment (can be found by searching LibCat).
  • Any item available for borrowing from any other library world-wide.

Things MSL will not send

  • Items on reserve and in reference.
  • Electronic equipment such as laptop computers, cameras, etc.

How do I set up delivery?

  1. Change the loan delivery option in your MSL Get It For Me account.
  2. On the left side navigation at the bottom under Tools, click on Change User Information.
  3. Change Preferred Loan Delivery Location to:
    • Faculty at the College Station campus use Faculty Only:  Deliver to Mailstop.
    • HSC Faculty/staff/students select your HSC location.
    • AgriLife and other individuals, select Other.

How do I request an item?

  1. Request items directly through MSL Get It For Me
    or click the Get it button in the MSL catalog or LibCat (TAMU Libraries general catalog).
  2. Login to Get It For Me, verify your information, and click submit.
  3. Be sure your email address in Get It For Me is one you check frequently
    (see the Get It For Me FAQ for email/address change instructions).
  4. Verify that delivery settings are correct (see above).

How MSL sends items

  • MSL or TAMU Libraries items are checked out to your MyLibrary account.
  • College Station Faculty: items are shipped through campus mail.
  • Mailings to personal address will be sent via Fedex pre-paid return.
    • Be sure your address in Get It For Me is up to date
      (see the Get It For Me FAQ for email/address change instructions).
    • When ready to return, use the pre-paid shipping envelope and drop in a FedEx drop box.

Returning an item to MSL

  • College Station campus faculty: return directly to MSL, use any campus library book drop, or use campus mail.
  • Personal addresses: return using the FedEx pre-paid mailer.
  • TAMU or HSC locations outside the College Stations campus:
    • Return to the MSL location near you
    • TAMU or HSC locations without a Medical Sciences Library on site, return using the FedEx pre-paid mailer.
